Song Castle is an annual co-writing workshop held at a wonderful old estate a mere 15 minutes from Helsinki airport. This year the workshop is organized for the sixth time and takes place on February 21–24, 2010.
The workshop brings together 20 professional songwriters; 8 international (past participants have included tunesmiths from Sweden, Italy, USA, UK, Iceland, Japan…) and 12 from Finland. Music Export Finland also invites international A&R personnel to provide the writers with leads. At least 5 concrete leads are presented at each workshop. At previous events leading record labels, such as Sony Music, EMI, Universal Music and S.M. Entertainment, have presented leads for major music markets like the USA, Asia, Germany and the UK.
In addition to a learning opportunity, Song Castle provides a great environment for songwriters to network and partner up with international music professionals.
This year’s Song Castle writers include Finns Jaakko Salovaara aka JS16, DJPP, Henri Lanz aka MGI, as well as international guest writers like Keely Hawkes (UK) and Dsign Music (Norway), and publishers Universal Music Publishing, Air Chrysalis, EMI Music Publishing, Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Warner/Chappell Music.
