Canadian Music Week has a prominent status on the North American music industry event calendar as one of the longest-running music business events in the world. The cutting-edge seminars are recognized worldwide, and the conference program is supported by an abundance of showcases at the Canadian Music Fest, taking place alongside the conference.

Canadian Music Fest will showcase three Finnish artists in 2012:

“The songs, the voice, the musicianship and the production are all truly at the highest levels. This artist is cool, deep, unique, new and unreleased.” – Robert Singerman (Entertainment Manager: REM, Violent Femmes)

“Jerry Lindqvist weaves the music and the culture of America into his songs and gives American Roots music a passport stamp.” – The Alternate Root

Jerry proves that American Roots do not really need to be rooted in the country of origin; this format of music belongs to the players and fans of the world. Jerry Lindqvist was born and raised in Vaasa, Finland and grew on a diet of rock, country, Townes Van Zandt and Hank Williams. His music touches on these influences and adds the natural soul texture of his vocal work. Jerry Lindqvist weaves the music and the culture of America into his songs and gives American Roots music a passport stamp.

Drums, scratches, bass, vocals, effects - and just one mouth! Hailed as one of the best beatboxers of the planet, Felix Zenger is an amazing vocal genius with deliriously staggering gigs. He not only produces a wide array of sounds, imitations of musical instruments and fast complex rhythms, but above all uses his mouth to create new and original music. Felix is the most popular Finn of all time on YouTube: his beatbox video has over 30 million views to date. He has shared the stage with the likes of Pharrell Williams (N*E*R*D), Kid Koala and DJ Q-Bert, and opened up for Kanye West, James Brown, Good Charlotte, Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea.

"Neufvoin takes you on a journey through a hypnotic storm in the middle of the ocean, drenched in echoes, combining their fresh shoegaze sound with glints of the 1990's." – The Record Stack

I suddenly wake up in a hot balloon over a valley. Down there, I see these five young guys in their woolen shirts creating a twisted collage with colorful materials and wild imagination. Mountains in the middle of the fog turn into massive walls of echoes and tunes float onwards naturally like a piece of wood in a river. I feel how the afterglow of the sun breaths in a melancholic sound of the trumpet while the shining moon reveals little details which I didn’t recognize a moment ago. Everything is somehow upside down and I can only guess what will happen next. Looks like calmness just waits for the furious storm before it’s time to start over again. I have a strong feeling this is something unique. This is something where art rock and dream pop collapse. Fusing dreamy soundscapes Sigur Rós and colossal crescendos of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, fierce horn themes of Neutral Milk Hotel plus hazy aesthetics of Slowdive and The Radio Dept., this group – making their music not far from Polar zone – surely sounds unique.
