JA JA JA Metal Night

In April, JA JA JA is all METAL!

Curated by Metal Hammer editor Alexander Milas, we have drafted in three bands guaranteed to bring the roof down. First up are veteran Finnish speed metal outfit Thunderstone, who started out in 2000 and have been slaying audiences ever since with albums like 2002’s Thunderstone, 2004’s and their recent (2009) Dirt Metal.

Next up are legendary Icelandic Viking/black metal band Solstafir, whose name means “crepuscular rays”, and whose music has been described as “like the sounds from the bedroom as Darkthrone rapes The Doors while fingerbanging Bathory”.

Well, you get the idea!

Last but not least come Norway’s “black and rollers” Vreid, whose latest LP “Milorg” (2009) has become their greatest success. The band are currently putting their last touch on their first DVD, entitled “Vreid Goddamnit”.

Not for the faint-hearted, April’s Ja Ja Ja is going to be a formidable event. Come and let your hair down!

JA JA JA – A Nordic Affair - Background Info

The night aims to provide a strong independent platform where new ‘export ready’ artists across multiple genres are able to showcase their music to key British music industry professionals, media, tastemakers and punters alike.

The Nordic region has a long tradition of punching way above its weight on the international music scene. For decades they have been fostering a wealth of innovative music talent to great international recognition and acclaim. JA JA JA aims to draw attention to this hotbed of talent on a monthly basis. The high concentration of industry professionals and international media in London makes it an ideal location.

Each night will feature specially invited British curators who will program the final line-up. Artist submissions from the various Nordic countries will be reviewed by the respective export offices, who will produce a shortlist based on ‘export readiness’. The guest curator will then select his favourite 3 artists for the night.
