The fifth edition of the Moscow export event brings music business professionals from Finland and Russia together once again.
News from Helsinki stands in a long line of export events that have been staged in Russia by Finnish Music Information Centre Fimic and Sibelius Academy, now dating back almost ten years. The fifth edition of this Moscow event, held 29 September – 1 October, takes to Russia some 20 Finnish music business delegates together with seven Finnish acts.
This year’s event features a Finnish-Russian business day, a seminar day, and two nights of Finnish showcases. The business day offers the music professionals from these neighbouring counties a chance to update their contacts and find new business partners, and on the seminar day, Russian speakers will catch the Finns up to speed on what’s going on in the Russian music market today.
The live portion of News from Helsinki is also open to the general audience. On Wednesday, Ismo Alanko & Teho and Lapko rock the stage, and on Thursday the audience can enjoy a wide spread of fresh music by French Films, The Capital Beat, Lau Nau, Vuk and Sistol aka Vladislav Delay.
The event is organized by Finnish Music Information Centre Fimic and Sibelius Academy in cooperation with Music Export Finland, Embassy of Finland, Ikra Club and Fullsteam Records. The seminar is part of the "Finnish Music Express" ESF project funded by the EU, the Häme Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment, the Ministry of Education and Culture and the City of Helsinki.
