Womex World Music Expo is the most significant trade fair and showcase event for world music. Womex takes place in the end of October, and the event gathers together nearly 3000 folk and world music professionals from all over the world. During 2009-2011, Womex is hosted by the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen. There are ten delegates representing Finland this year, have a look at them below.

Another important part of the event is the showcase festival, where the international delegates discover new talents and make bookings for their future seasons. When moving to Copenhagen, Womex also introduced the new, all-Nordic showcase stage Nordic Club, featuring the best folk artists of Finland, Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. This year, Finland is represented by Frigg (showcase 28.10. at 9.30pm) and Maria Kalaniemi & Vilda Rosor (showcase 29.10. at 00.30am).

Made in Berlin and travelling in Europe: The 15th edition of WOMEX in Copenhagen, Denmark in October 2009 saw over 2,700 delegates from more than 90 countries, 650 exhibitors, a full conference and a showcase festival presenting 57 acts on 6 stages.
