Finnish Music Days in Tokyo trade event on May 24th26th
Finnish music industry is very much looking forward on increasing co-operative activities in Japan. The worlds second biggest music market has become an important one for Finnish music, where artists such as Children of Bodom, Hanoi Rocks, Stratovarius and Sonata Arctica have already enjoyed substantial success. At the end of May, the Finnish music industry professionals, organized by the industry organization Music Export Finland MUSEX and Finnish Music Information Centre FIMIC, gather their resources and head to Tokyo with seven of the finest Finnish artists to play before the Japanese music industry and music fans. There are already over 40 Finnish artists with releases in the Japanese market, and the objective is to bring more high quality Finnish music for the Japanese people.
Finnish Music Days in Tokyo will congregate Finnish and Japanese music industry professionals and to showcase top Finnish artists via showcase live events and an exhibition for industry professionals to be held May 26th, when 22 Finnish labels, publishers and managements will be on hand to represent their artists and music to their Japanese counterparts at a trade event to be held at JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization).
The showcases are co-produced with CreativeMan, who also promoted last years showcase events, and as well as recent shows by the Finnish bands Children of Bodom, The Rasmus and H.I.M. On Wednesday 24th, the Liquid Room will be blazing and blasting Finnish metal: death/trash metal maestros Amoral (Spikefarm Records), brutal modern death/black ensemble Norther (Spinefarm Records) and aggressive melodic trashers Pain Confessor (Megamania).
Thursday night, May 25th, playing at Duo Music Exchange will be the hip-hop combo Don Johnson Big Band (Sam Agency), beautiful pop group Mummypowder (Rubato Music), glam bangers Private Line (Bad Habits Records) and the worlds first MobileJockey Slow (Plastinka Records), who plays his DJ-set with just two Nokia N91 mobile phones and an XP10 stream controller.
To give a teaser on whats to come, Billboard magazines May 6 issue will feature a CD with a wide selection of music from the companies attending Finnish Music Days in Tokyo. The CD will be delivered to all Japanese subscribers of Billboard magazine. The http://www.musex.fi/nihongo2006 website hosts a music player featuring all the Finnish bands represented by the Finnish delegates.
