We believe our bands will advance their internationalization strategies by appearing at the event,” says Lasse Hytönen of GAEA Records. “We are seeking Nordic business partners for our artists, and SPOT is the best place for that, since the key players in the sector are there,” says Jussi Hautala, Creative Manager at management agencyFresh Tunes Finland. Paradise Oskar, who represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest, is not appearing in person, but partners in collaboration are also being sought for him via the event’s music business professional programme. “We are looking forward to meet managers, promoters and other players on the Nordic music market,” Manager Hanna-Leena Ehn adds.

Each year, more than 1000 international music-trade professionals and media representatives attend SPOT and names that have risen to worldwide prominence from this showcase festival over the years include Mew from Denmark, Sigúr Rós from Iceland, and Håkan Hellström from Sweden, among others. SPOT is one of a series of events in Music Export Finland’s flagship project, MOI! Sounds from Suomi, which aims to promote the signing of contracts between the Finnish artists appearing at the event and buyers, to get the artists widespread attention in the music media, and hence to increase Finnish music’s market share in the Nordic countries.
