Accordionist Antti Paalanen knocks some socks off at FolkeLarm in Norway

on 2011-10-13

Kieron Tyler of Arts Desk legged it to Norway for a taste of Nordic folk at the FolkeLarm Festival. One of the performers that really impressed him was accordionist Antti Paalanen (Töölön Musiikkitukku), a protégé and student of Kimmo Pohjonen… which is not to say that Paalanen isn’t his own thing altogether, as this video with its echoes of Glass and Riley demonstrates!

Read Kieron’s excellent article here. Also worth a read by the same gentleman is an article on Helmi-levyt, a truly classic indie label with its own genre-busting sound, vision and feel.
