This year’s Finland fest concentrates on metal, which has always been a major Finnish export to the land of the rising sun. Metal culture has deep roots in Japan and has produced its own classic bands like Loudness and Boris.
May 25 at Unit is the Hokuo Music Night, starring the ethereal folk-influenced atmospherics of Husky Rescue (El Camino Helsinki).
The Metal Attack club night takes place at Liquid Room on May 26. It features Swallow The Sun (Spinefarm Records), Profane Omen (Spinefarm Records), Insomnium (Metalheim) and Amoral (Imperial Cassette), as well as Japanese metallers Anthem.
Folk accordion virtuoso Maria Kalaniemi (Sublime Music Agency) will also play on May 26. The venue will be announced later.
